The Tower - tarot card drawn by the frog

Major arcana · XVI

The Tower

Upright

sudden change · the false falling away · revelation

The Tower is struck by lightning, the crown blown off, two figures falling from the windows. The card means sudden, total change: a structure that was built on a false footing coming down all at once. It is the hardest card to receive and often the most useful. Upright, it speaks of revelation, of a crisis that clears away what was never true, and of the strange freedom on the other side of a collapse.

What falls today was leaning already.

What in your life are you holding up with both hands?

Reversed

disaster avoided · the slow collapse · fear of change

Reversed, the Tower falls slowly or not quite. A disaster narrowly avoided, a collapse delayed, or the fear of change so strong that you keep living in a building you know is cracked. It can also mean the aftershocks of an earlier fall. The card asks whether you are rebuilding or just refusing to leave.

She lived in the ruin for years and called it a house.

What are you refusing to let fall that would free you if it did?
