The Sun - tarot card drawn by the frog

Major arcana · XIX

The Sun

Upright

joy · clarity · success · nothing hidden

The Sun shines over a child on a white horse with a wall of sunflowers behind. The card is the plainest in the deck: joy, warmth, success, clarity, the kind of day where nothing needs interpreting. Upright, it speaks of vitality and confidence, of a truth that is simply visible, of a good thing that is exactly what it looks like. Receive it without suspicion.

The child on the horse did not know it was a good day. It simply was one.

What would you do today if you let it be simple?

Reversed

clouded joy · overconfidence · the sun behind a shutter

Reversed, the Sun is still shining but something is in the way: a mood, a doubt, a refusal to let the good thing be good. It can mean overconfidence that burns, or a sadness that does not match the facts. The card asks what shutter you have drawn, and whether it is protecting you from anything real.

He drew the curtains against the glare and complained about the dark.

What is going well that you are refusing to enjoy?
