The Star
Upright
hope · renewal · calm after · the open sky
The Star is a woman kneeling at a pool under a great star and seven smaller ones, pouring water onto the land and into the water. She comes after the Tower. The card means hope that has earned its name: renewal, healing, the calm that follows a storm, faith restored not by argument but by morning. Upright, it speaks of inspiration, generosity, and the sense that you are, after all, on the right road.
After the storm the water was clear enough to drink from.
What do you still hope for, quietly, that you stopped saying out loud?
Reversed
discouragement · lost faith · the dimmed light
Reversed, the Star has dimmed. Discouragement, a loss of faith, the feeling that the storm will never end or that hope is for other people. It can mean a creative dryness or a withdrawal from what used to inspire. The card asks you to notice that the star has not moved - only your eyes.
The star was still there. She had stopped looking up.
When did you last let yourself want something simply?
