The Magician
Upright
skill · will · the tools at hand · making it so
The Magician stands at a table with every tool of the deck laid out - cup, coin, sword, wand - and one hand pointing up, one pointing down. The card means capability: not luck, not help from outside, but the plain fact that the means are present and the will is awake. Upright, it says the moment is for doing, and that the gap between the idea and the thing is smaller than it looks. Focus turns intention into an object.
Everything she needs is on the table. She has been looking at the door.
What do you already have that you keep saying you lack?
Reversed
trickery · scattered talent · a show without substance
Reversed, the Magician is sleight of hand. The tools are there but the attention is on the effect, not the work: talent spread thin, promises made at the speed of talking, a convincing performance covering an empty table. It can also mean self-deception - believing the trick because it was done so well. The card asks you to check what is actually finished.
The trick worked. The audience was the magician.
Who are you performing for, and have they left?
