The Lovers
Upright
union · choice · accord · what you value
The Lovers show two figures beneath an angel, with a tree of fruit and a tree of flame behind them. The card is about union, but first it is about choice: the decision to stand with someone or something, made from the values you actually hold. Upright, it speaks of harmony, honest partnership, and the kind of clarity that comes when what you want and what you believe point the same way.
Two paths, and she chose the one with company.
What would you choose if choosing cost you nothing?
Reversed
disharmony · a mismatch of values · the avoided choice
Reversed, the Lovers are out of tune. A relationship where the values no longer match, a choice avoided until it makes itself, or a bond kept for comfort rather than conviction. It can mean temptation, a decision made against yourself, or simply the discovery that two people want different things. The card asks what you value and whether your choices show it.
They agreed on everything and spoke about nothing.
Which choice are you refusing to make by making none?
